Ryan Maughan is a passionate advocate for his community. A native of Southern California, he has dedicated his professional career to helping individuals and families in need. Before becoming an attorney, Ryan served as a VISTA (Volunteers in Service America) in the Americorps program where he advocated for children and families in low-income communities. Ryan battled societal injustices and championed worthy causes including early childhood literacy. Now, as an attorney, he continues the good fight in the courtroom as he represents aggrieved clients seeking justice.

Ryan graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara before earning his law degree at Chapman University Fowler School of Law on an academic merit scholarship. In law school, Ryan served as an editor for the Nexus Journal of Law and Policy. Beyond the classroom, he served as an intern with the Ninth Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel where he sharpened his legal skills working on complex appellate matters. He went on to intern for the Honorable Theodor C. Albert of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California where he witnessed how each decision the Court made profoundly impacted individual lives.

Ryan began his trial career while still in law school when he tried and won his first case in federal court as an intern for the Office of the Chief Counsel for the Internal Revenue Service. Upon graduation from law school, he was recognized for his dedication to the community with the Commitment to Service Award for volunteering hundreds of hours of pro bono legal work to help indigent clients facing daunting legal issues.

After passing the bar, Ryan honed his advocacy skills at a prestigious, national law firm. There, he represented multinational companies and public entities from the onset of a case through trial. Ryan distinguished himself as a thoughtful problem solver unafraid to take on any challenge. Ryan continued to gain trial experience while working for a national insurance company as an in-house trial attorney. From this experience, he gained firsthand knowledge of the tactics insurance companies use, and now he knows how to protect his clients from them.

At Case Barnett Law, Ryan brings his significant litigation experience, in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry, and fearless spirit to each case. Each day, Ryan strives to make his community a better, safer place by standing up for those who have been wronged. Clients appreciate that Ryan is a compassionate listener, a thoughtful communicator, and a dedicated champion of their cause.

To this day, Ryan maintains his commitment to serving his community not only through his law practice but also his volunteer work. He proudly serves as a director on the board of Charitable Ventures of Orange County, a non-profit organization that provides much needed services to communities throughout Southern California. Ryan also volunteers at the Public Law Center’s Domestic Violence Clinic assisting survivors who are seeking protection through court intervention.

Ryan lives in Orange County with his wife and law-school sweetheart, Jessica. When they are not in the office or courtroom, they like to spend their free time at the Huntington Dog Beach with their Miniature Schnauzer, Scout.
