According to the CDC, 3,000 children, a year die of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and 29,000 are hospitalized. In 2014 alone, an estimated 814,000 children were treated in emergency departments for TBI. Falls accounted for almost half of the TBI-related ER visits. TBI can be especially dangerous and difficult to live with because an individual may appear outwardly as if they have no cognitive difficulties, while internally the person is suffering immensely and struggling with simple activities of daily living.
